Double Edged Blade

By Chris Aldous

Without a hope,

Without a life.

To build a cross,

To be crucified.

To hate yourself,

To feel the pain.

An emotional tint,

In one of life's games.

To find a hope,

A treasure to seek.

To open your heart,

Your life at your feet.

To love yourself,

To free the pain.

Another chance,

At one of life's games.

To roll the dice,

The wings of fate.

A life of choice,

A risk to take.

To be happy,

Or to be sad.

A world of chances,

Both good and bad.
